The primary programming contest that UNSW competes in is the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). Although UNSW has competed in the contest before 2012, unfortunately a lot of these results have been lost.
The primary mathematics contest that UNSW competes in is the Simon Marais Mathematics Competition, which has been running since 2017.
Since 2014, ICPC teams have had to compete in a divisional contest for the right to compete in the regional contest. In 2020 the divisional contest was cancelled and instead the regional division 1 contest acted as the regional finals with world finals implications, while the division 2 contest did not have any affect on the world finals positions and competitors did not need to meet ICPC standards.
ICPC World Finals are held the year after their respective regional qualification contests.
